Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. This page explains which ones Power Outage Planner uses and how to control them. For the bigger picture on data, see our Privacy Policy.

The cookies we use

We keep this simple. We use two kinds of cookies, and no advertising cookies at all — we don’t run ads or ad trackers.

  • Strictly necessary. These keep the site working and remember your cookie choice. They include our caching system and the small cookie that records whether you accepted or declined analytics. The site can’t function properly without these, so they don’t require consent.
  • Analytics. Google Analytics sets cookies (such as _ga and _ga_<id>) to measure how the site is used. These only run if you allow them. For visitors in the EU and UK, analytics stays off until you accept; you can decline and the site works exactly the same.

How to control cookies

When you first visit, our banner lets you accept or decline analytics cookies. You can change your mind any time by clearing this site’s cookies in your browser, which brings the banner back. Every major browser also lets you block or delete cookies in its settings. Blocking analytics cookies won’t break anything here.

Changes

If we add or remove cookies — for example, if we later introduce affiliate links — we’ll update this page and the date above.
